Landsbankinn is a controller of electronic surveillance conducted in connection with its operation. Landsbankinn has adopted rules on the processing of personal data that are meant to ensure that the processing of personal data complies with current legislation and rules on privacy and data protection.

Purpose of surveillance
Electronic surveillance is carried out for security reasons and property protection. Surveillance is carried out with digital cameras located at and around Landsbankinn premises and ATM locations around the country.
Type of personal data
During surveillance with digital cameras, footage and visual material is collected of individuals who traverse the monitored area and their activities. Type of personal data here refers to such material.
Processing authorisation
Electronic surveillance is based on the legitimate interests of Landsbankinn and is carried out for security reasons and property protection.

Recipients of visual materials

All access to material created through electronic surveillance is access controlled and only designated Landsbankinn personnel has access. Parties who carry out security services for the Bank have access to material on video monitors. Visual material containing information about accidents or criminal activity may be delivered to police authorities or the Bank may be obligated by law to share visual material.

Individuals may request access to visual material to pertinent individuals if the information it contains is necessary to determine, set forth and protect claims in legal proceedings or for other legal purposes. Individuals may also give informed consent for the dissemination of visual material and sharing of visual material may be authorised based on previously obtained authorisation by the Data Protection Authority, cf. Article 10 of the Rules on Electronic Surveillance.

Storage of visual material

Visual material is stored for 30 days after which time it is transferred to back-ups where it is stored for another 30 days. At the end of that period, the visual material is erased unless there are objective and substantiated reasons for longer storage.

Rights of individuals

Individuals are entitled to view visual material featuring themselves and to receive copies of such visual material, provided such access does not infringe on the rights and privacy of others. In other respects, the rights of individuals are governed by Chapter III of Act No. 90/2018, on Data Protection and Processing of Personal Data, cf. the provisions of Chapter III of Regulation (EU) 2016/679.

Individuals can request access to personal data through Landsbankinn’s Data Rights Portal.

Right to submit complaints with the Data Protection Authority

The subject of electronic surveillance is entitled to submit complaints with the Data Protection Authority should they consider the data processing in breach of the Data Protection Act. Information about the Data Protection Authority can be found on the Authority’s website, personuvernd.is.
