Most Landsbankinn branches close early today because of extreme weather. Our branches will open again tomorrow as and when the weather subsides. We will update information tomorrow as opening hours are likely to vary in between locations.

Due to a system updates, customers will not be able to use the app and online banking on Wednesday 5 February, between 6:00 and 7:00 in the morning. Other self-service solutions will be inaccessible for about an hour during work on the update.

Community grants in the total amount of ISK 15 million were awarded from Landsbankinn’s Community Fund on 19 December 2024. A total of 35 initiatives received financial support this year. The projects are varied and benefit people of all ages and throughout Iceland.

We warn against phishing emails that have been sent in the name of the Icelandic Tax Authority (Skatturinn). The email, which is in Icelandic, claims that the tax authorities have updated your tax return information and instructs you to access these details through the Skatturinn service portal by clicking a link included in the email.

The Landsbankinn calendar for 2025 is dedicated to water and its diverse roles in our lives. This year, the calendar features watercolor paintings by the artist Stefán "Mottan" Óli Baldursson.

Landsbankinn’s branches and Customer Service Centre will be closed on Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and on New Year’s Day. On New Year’s Eve, the Bank is open until 12:00, which means that branches that generally open at 12:00 are closed that day. General opening hours apply on other days. The app and online banking are of course available anytime and anywhere.

In her address to the anniversary meeting of Háskólasjóður Eimskipafélag Íslands, Halla Tómasdóttir, the President of Iceland, spoke of the importance of higher education, innovation and research. Three recipients of grants from the Fund presented their doctoral theses.

We would like to draw attention to the fact that individuals with active arrangements for allocating supplementary pension savings towards the principal of their mortgage do not need to reapply for a continuation as the arrangement will automatically renew at the end of the year.

Grand Master Helgi Áss Grétarsson came, saw and conquered at Landsbankinn’s Friðriksmót, the Icelandic rapid chess tournament, held at the Bank’s headquarters at Reykjastræti on 1 December.

The lights on the Hamburg Christmas tree will be lit at 17:00 on 30 November during a festive ceremony and to the accompaniment of merry music, courtesy of the Hafnarfjörður Brass Band.
