The design of Landsbankinn's new premises at Reykjastræti 6 has received a rating of "excellent" according to the international BREEAM environmental standard. Final certification will take place upon full completion of construction and finishing work.
BREEAM's certification system for environmental design assesses various aspects of a building, i.e. environmental and safety management during construction and operation, good interior incl. acoustics, air quality and lighting, good energy utilisation and minimisation of various types of pollution from the building. The aim is for the entire building to be rated as excellent according to the BREEAM certification system.
Reykjastræti 6 is the first building in Iceland to receive design certification according to the new BREEAM standard, which took effect in 2016.
Last winter, Landsbankinn and the Nordic Investment Bank negotiated a 15-year loan of USD 40 million for the construction of the new Landsbankinn building on Reykjastræti. Granting of the loan came under the Nordic Investment Bank's Environmental Bond framework.
