Scholarships were awarded for the 31st time and are in the total amount of ISK 6 million. This year, over 500 applications were received. Landsbankinn is the only domestic bank with a scholarship programme.
Scholarships are awarded in five categories: to secondary school students, for vocational studies and apprenticeships, to university students, post-graduate students and for artistic study.
The panel of judges sought to select exceptional students possessed of ambition and an interesting future vision likely, in the opinion of the panel, to enrich Icelandic society in the long term. Other factors taken into consideration included research and written articles, voluntary service, participation in sports and in social activities, etc.

Today, 11 November, 60 years have passed from the founding of scholarship fund Háskólasjóður hf. Eimskipafélags Íslands. The Fund was created in memory of Icelandic emigrants to the USA and Canada who participated in the establishment of shipping company Eimskipafélagið.
