In anticipation of the FIFA World Cup in Russia in June, Landsbankinn has installed a rouble ATM in Smáralind. Many Icelanders will be attending the World Cup in Russia and roubles are generally not available in Iceland. The rouble ATM is located on the 2nd floor of Smáralind, next to the Smárabíó exit.

Landsbankinn is a proud sponsor of the Football Association of Iceland and the football teams. Iceland’s first match is against the Argentine in Moscow on 16 June. In Moscow, a cappuccino may cost around RUB 172, which is equivalent to ISK 290, and a single bus ticket costs RUB 53, or ISK 90.

It is advisable to carry some currency when travelling abroad, as is discussed in a recent article on Umræðan, offering sound tips on credit card use overseas. The rouble ATM in Smáralind contains around 1000 rouble notes and exchange rate information is available on the Bank’s website.

Go Iceland, go!
