Helga Björk Eiríksdóttir, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Landsbankinn, a Director of the Board since 2013 and Chairman since 2016, will not stand for re-election to the Board at the Bank’s AGM on 20 March 2024. Berglind Svavarsdóttir, Vice-chairman of the Board and a Director since 2016, will also not stand for re-election and steps down at the same time.

Helga Björk Eiríksdóttir, Chairman of the Board of Directors: “I have served on the Board of Directors of Landsbankinn for 11 years. I have had the opportunity to work with fantastic people and participate in many challenging, important and exciting projects, including reorganisation of the Bank’s financial structure, improvement of governance practices, development of IT and digital services and, not least, shaping of the strategy “Landsbankinn, an ever-smarter bank”. Landsbankinn has flourished in recent years. It is the largest commercial bank; its operation is sound and its financial strength considerable. Surveys and measurements show that it is the most trusted bank, it holds the highest market share and has topped the Icelandic Performance Satisfaction Index among banking customers for the past five years. Despite challenging external conditions, 2023 was a rewarding year and, all things considered, can safely be described as the most successful year in the Bank’s history. Net earnings were ISK 33.2 billion and profitability 11.6%, exceeding the Bank’s target. The move to new headquarters went well, numerous new customers joined us and the Bank launched several new and successful solutions in response to changing customer needs.

I am very grateful for these good years at Landsbankinn and would like to thank all the Directors of the Board, the CEO, other executives and all the fantastic personnel I have had the good fortune to know and work with during this time. The Bank’s employees are ambitious and always guided by professionalism in their work. I would also like to extend my thanks to shareholders for placing their trust in me and for good relations in the past years. I take my leave from Landsbankinn with pride and affection, knowing that it will continue banking for the future.”
